Re: Big company leaves New West, Letters, The Record, Aug. 24.

In The Record of Aug. 24, Mr. Elk Ebert wrote a letter stating that Mott Electric was leaving New Westminster, and he also stated that he worked for a company that does business with Mott Electric.

I would question what he did for his company, as Mott Electric had their office and warehouse in Burnaby for more than 40 years.

Next time, maybe Mr. Ebert should do his homework before writing such a very misleading letter.

He also mentioned that the mayor and council were building a tower on Columbia Street. This leaves me to wonder what that has to do with Mott Electric.

As for Mott's opening day, I recall Mayor Wayne Wright and a Burnaby city councillor were there, as well as Dan Mott and one other person.

Mr. Ebert also inferred that the mayor should keep Mott Electric in New Westminster. I would question where in New Westminster would he find 15 acres with already built buildings, ample parking and a central location near Vancouver, Burnaby and New Westminster on main roads that make accessibility possible without bridges and long lineups?

As I read Mr. Ebert's letter, it sounded like sour grapes, and maybe Mr. Ebert is writing for Mr. James Crosty for one sole purpose - that is to keep Mr. Crosty's name in the paper with the hope of future election gains.
