I don't agree with the overdevelopment of New Westminster. It will cause a lot of problems and create more traffic and air pollution in a city that already has too much traffic passing through it.
I understand that council thinks that everyone can get out of their cars and use public transit or bicycles, but the reality is transit is overcrowded and not very reliable way to commute theses days. The reality is everyone is still in their cars.
Overcrowding always causes more crime, which has been increasing around Columbia Street recently. And we simply do not have the resources.
Also I keep wondering how all of this development going on is any good for people's health — the dust and disturbance of breaking ground and building materials that go into the atmosphere, the air we breathe and the stress of the constant construction noise that causes stress to the people who live here. I think New Westminster is becoming a city that is hazardous to our health!
