Re: Old-timers need to stop 'gatekeeping' New Westminster
"Bought for a song" and "if you don't like it (concrete jungle) you can always leave." OMG and wow!
I could easily come down heavy on the writer's arrogance and self-centred attitude but would be yelling at myself five or six decades ago when I had the same feelings of "get out of the way, I'm here now."
"For a song" he says. My union job paid $24 per day, and my first house and wife and two kids allowed me $20 per week for myself, if ever.
You ain't special, kid, and decades from now you will be hearing and reading of "newbies'" frustrations and special needs.
I feel your pain, and I have been verbally slapped by someone near and dear to me because I dare to be now financially comfortable and he is not. But I digress; it is life that "earning comfort is better than being given it" (my thoughts).
