Dear Editor:

Re: Big company leaves New West, Letters to the Editor, The Record, Aug. 14.

I would like to thank Elk Ebert for the kind words he had to say about Mott Electric GP. We take great pride in being ethical and reliable.

Beyond that, Elk Ebert seems to have only made errors and unflattering comments regarding friendship and the wonderful human trait of smiling and laughing. As stated in the original article, Mott Electric moved to Burnaby 42 years ago, and would not hesitate to be in New Westminster if the appropriate land was available. The office towers in New Westminster are excellent locations for businesses that don't require parking for a large fleet of trucks, vans and heavy equipment.

And yes, heaven forbid, Wayne Wright is a good friend. That happens when you are neighbours for many years and enjoy another's company.

Elk Ebert, without being there, you would have no idea why Wayne "seemed to be celebrating" or "our mayor laughing." Certainly, it was not for the reasons you purport.

See, I figure we all need a whole lot more smiling and laughing, so grab a glass of "half full" and smile.

Dan Mott, proud citizen of New Westminster
