Dear Editor:
Re: Math students' marks adjusted after complaints, The Record, Feb. 8.
My opinion: for whatever reason or reasons that students' marks were adjusted, I can't think of any justification for doing so.
I believe marks are based on students' performances on that period. So, when the students' grade on that period is 70 and the parent/student will complain, the grade could be adjusted to either 85 or 60?
There are times that a student may be an A-plus student, but for some factors, may become a B-minus student in a certain periodic marking. My big question about giving marks to students is: what are the school's standard basis for giving marks to students? (Or, is there a standard to follow in giving marks to students?)
