Late summer blast may be coming New West's way

Outdoor pool weather isn't over yet.

Matias Alva, Alejandro Lopez and Janet Molina cool off at Hume Park Pool in July. More outdoor pool weather may be heading New Westminster's way this week.

The cool nights and changing leaves may feel like fall — but another blast of summer weather may be heading New West's way.

It's expected to warm up tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 14) and Friday, according to the Weatherhood local forecast for New Westminster.

Thursday is expected to see sunshine and a high of 24 C, while the sun continues into Friday as the mercury creeps up to an expected 26 C.

If you're looking for a way to keep cool — especially after the kids return from school on Friday afternoon — don't forget that the city's two outdoor pools are still up and running for the season. Both pools are scheduled to remain open until Oct. 1.

Where to swim: New Westminster outdoor pool hours

The city's outdoor pools are offering both reserved and drop-in sessions this summer.

  • Hume Park Pool, 252 Kelly St.: The pool is open Mondays to Fridays from 3:30 to 6:45 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:30 to 6:45 p.m.

A reminder that Grimston Park wading pool has closed for the season.
