- Green – 14%
- Description:
- Trying to find a poll where the BC Liberals broke 30% here in Burnaby-New Westminster is like pulling teeth out of a shark while it’s chasing you down on the open ocean. Not only is it quite working-class, it’s also incredibly diverse, with vibrant Chinese, South Asian, and Filipino communities all residing in the riding.
- Combining the NDP’s strongest polls in the old riding of Burnaby-Edmonds along with part of their traditional stronghold of New Westminster, incumbent MLA and Speaker of the House Raj Chouhan is incredibly favoured.
- Conservative candidate Deepak Suri faces an uphill battle in the riding, to say the least. Provincially, the riding has only gone for the anti-NDP option once this century, while federally it’s stayed with the New Democrats since 2006. To make matters worse, former BC United candidate Daniel Kofi Ampong is also seeking the seat, which, combined with the lack of a Green candidate could push him below the right’s traditional floor of 20% in the riding. Expect Chouhan to take this comfortably.
