Fraser River Discovery Centre is bringing back its Summer Discovery Days series – starting with the upcoming Canada Day long weekend.

The series, which takes place on long weekends throughout the summer, begins on Saturday, July 1 and runs through Monday, July 3. Programs are offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

“Long weekends in the summer months are extra special, and we wanted to help people celebrate them,” said Stephen Bruyneel, the centre’s director of external relations and development.

Starting on the July long weekend, Summer Discovery Days will focus on the species that make the Fraser River so unique, Bruyneel said.

According to a FRDC news release, the Fraser watershed is home to an incredible variety of animals.

Guests visiting the centre on the Canada Day long weekend will help celebrate them with fascinating facts, interactive games, and crafts. This includes: identifying the parts of a habitat for different species; coming to grips with some of the river’s residents with the centre’s animal artifacts; and playing “ecosystem jenga” to discover the balance between predators, prey and plants.

Located at 788 Quayside Dr., Fraser River Discovery Centre offers a variety of programs and exhibits related to various aspects of the Mighty Fraser.

Details about programs, admission rates and hours can be found at www.fraserriverdiscovery.org.
