The Met Hotel team is celebrating the 120th anniversary of the historic Burr Block this month.

Built in 1892, the Burr Block is one of only two commercial buildings that survived the great fire of 1898, which destroyed most of downtown. Designed by prominent architect George William Grant, the Met was built in the Victorian Romanesque tradition featuring unglazed bricks, terracotta ornaments and arched, recessed windows. The building was named for its original owner, William H. Burr.

The celebration starts on Sunday, April 15 at 1 p.m. with a giant birthday cake and tours of the hotel.

Guests can party at the Met Bar & Grill like it's 1892 with a special three-course dinner available all week for $18.92. Pints of 1892 Lager are $4.50. There will be a number of draws and prizes throughout the celebratory week.
