Two local NDP politicians delivered healthy treats to frontline health-care workers at Royal Columbian Hospital.
New Westminster-Burnaby MP Peter Julian and Richmond-Queensborough MLA Aman Singh delivered 120 boxes of Mandarin oranges to ICU and ER frontline workers at RCH on New Year's Eve.
"We want to acknowledge the extraordinary work, courage and sacrifice that have been required from all frontline workers and their families at RCH,” Julian said in a news release. “All health-care workers, nurses, doctors, personal support workers, cleaning crews, maintenance workers and administrative staff have made tremendous sacrifices to keep the health-care system operational throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. They are making absolutely incredible sacrifices, and they are there for us."
Singh praised the efforts of Royal Columbian Hospital employees during the pandemic.
"For the past nine months, all of these frontline workers have been working incredibly hard to take care of us. They get up every morning – or every evening or night, as the case may be – to care for people with COVID-19 and the rest of the community,” he said. “As 2020 ends, we can see hope for an eventual end to the pandemic due in part to their efforts. It is vitally important to pay tribute to them."
