New West residents invited to army cadet parade

The New Westminster Army Cadet Corps is inviting community members to attend its end-of-year parade and ceremony. The Royal Westminster Regiment Army Cadet Cops is hosting its 67th annual ceremonial review on Saturday, May 30 at 12:30 p.m.

The New Westminster Army Cadet Corps is inviting community members to attend its end-of-year parade and ceremony.

The Royal Westminster Regiment Army Cadet Cops is hosting its 67th annual ceremonial review on Saturday, May 30 at 12:30 p.m. at the Armoury at 530 Queens Ave.  Lt.-Col. David Vernon will be the reviewing officer.

The event includes a graduation parade and inspection. In addition, cadets will get a chance to showcase what they’ve learned over the year in field craft, physical training, map and compass, drill, marksmanship and first aid.

Cadets meet Monday nights from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m. at the Armoury.

The ceremony marks the end of the training year and registration will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Applicants, who must be 12 years old to join, require proof of Canadian citizenship (birth certificate, citizenship card, passport, etc.) and their CareCard.
