Artisan goods, food products, vintage collectibles and thrifted treasures are among the items up for grabs at the Royal City Gogos' Artisan Craft Sale.

The Royal City Gogos’ Artisan Craft Sale features an eclectic array of items – just in time for the holiday season.

This year’s sale features locally made handcrafts in 15 “departments."  Shoppers will find a diverse range of items including beard oil for men, Parisian fashionista pendants, designer fabric cushions, handwoven scarves, novelty Christmas décor items, and food.

“People come back here after year because there’s always something new and different. We have followers that line up outside the door on Friday afternoon and can’t wait to get in. They make a beeline for their favourite departments,” said Janine Reid, founder of the Royal City Gogos. “It’s always amusing to see first-time attendees decline a shopping basket as they enter; it doesn’t take long before they’re coming back with their arms laden and they’re grateful for the basket to carry all the purchases.”

For foodies and folks who will be doing some entertaining over the holiday season, the sale is a place to pick up Christmas cakes, loaves and cookies. They can also order a porch planter, charcuterie board, or a tea party to go.

Reid said the vintage and collectibles department is always a popular destination for shoppers. The Royal City Gogos are adding a thrift department, featuring fashion accessories at bargain prices, to this year’s sale.

“The secret of a great sale is to have items that appeal to a wide cross-section of people. Many people enjoy shopping for thrift items and new to you,” Reid said. “This year we are offering carefully curated fashion accessories in our thrift department, and our collectibles department is always a hit with people looking for small vases, teacups, and saucers, and curiosities from another era.”

The Royal City Gogos welcome folks to attend a fun sale featuring unique treasures and delights.

This year’s sale is on Friday, Nov. 15 (3 to 7:30 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 16 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) at the Unifor Hall, 326 12th St. Admission and parking are free, and the building is wheelchair accessible.

All proceeds from the Royal City Gogos’ Artisan Craft Sale go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers Campaign in support of African grandmothers caring for children orphaned by AIDS.
