A band of musicians from the Lower Mainland and the Island are coming together to bring an iconic rock album to life.

Bringing Down the Wall, described as “an immersive audiovisual experience,” is on at the Columbia Theatre on Saturday, April 29. It will feature a performance of the entire Pink Floyd album The Wall.

It’s the latest performance by Our Project, a collective of musicians that support musical education for children. This show – which has been more than two years in the making – will raise money for the Sarah McLachlan School of Music in Vancouver.

For Kevin Western, the drummer and mastermind behind Our Project, it’s a cause close to his heart.

“Having any musical talent is a gift that should be nurtured in children, and it’s our aim to help the Sarah McLachlan School of Music to provide much-needed lessons,” he said. “Many of our cast members have benefited enormously from a musical education, and we’d like to see younger generations get that chance.”

Keyboard player Mark Glenning said the concert has been an “amazing journey,” from the very first rehearsal to its performance at the Columbia – which he calls a “great venue.” The show has been previously performed at the Surrey Arts Centre and at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo.

“I couldn’t be more proud to be part of such an exceptional group of musicians,” Glenning said. “The months of hard work have really paid off – the show looks and sounds amazing, and this final performance will be the best yet.”

The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35, available through the Columbia Theatre. Call 604-522-4500.
