You're invited. Wild Rice New Westminster is having its first anniversary birthday party this Saturday, Nov. 24.
There will be two parts to this party, according to a press release.
The first part of the evening will consist of regular dinner service from 5: 30 to 8 p.m. In addition to its regular menu, the restaurant will be offering a five-course tasting menu for $25, which will feature upcoming menu items.
For reservations, please email [email protected].
There will also be an after party at 9 p.m. with a Chinese night market feel, tons of $5 drink specials, small bites and raffle door prizes and live music provided by Les is More. A suggested $5 donation to the New Westminster Food Bank will guarantee guests a free drink token. RSVP at lisa@ wildricebc.ca for the after party to secure admission. Admission otherwise will be based on a first-come first-serve basis.
Share the joy - and help others
Do a little holiday shopping while helping others next month.
The Bitmakaly Women's Association - an organization that helps refugees and new immigrants - is hosting a Christmas Bazaar on Dec. 8, at the Sapperton Hall.
Lubna Abdelrahman, who founded the association, knows what it's like to be a newcomer to Canada, having immigrated from Sudan more than a decade ago.
She believes it's important for newcomers to embrace traditions celebrated in their new homelands.
"The message I want to tell newcomers, even if you are Muslim or Christian, everyone has spiritual holidays," she told The Record last year. "You have to participate. It's part of integration."
The hall is located at 318 Keary St. in Sapperton.
