It may not look like much, but rental prices for apartments in New Westminster are still on the rise.
New data from Rentals.ca and Urbanation listed $2,550 per month was the average asking price for a purpose-built and condo apartment in the city for November.
That's a increase of nearly two per cent from October, according to the latest national rent report released Tuesday, Dec. 10.
The number remains the fifth most expensive asking price among medium-sized communities in B.C., but is now the 12th highest across Canada — a single spot jump from 13th in the previous report.
New West's rental apartment price is roughly $750 cheaper than North Vancouver, which, at $3,222 per month, hold the highest average for Canadian mid-sized municipalities.
Coquitlam ($2,979), Richmond ($2,784) and Burnaby ($2,746) round out B.C.'s top four.
New West's number is just one per cent more than the province's average rent of $2,524 per month.
B.C.'s median price is the most expensive in Canada, but represents a two per cent year-over-year dip compared to $2,549 in November 2023.
Meanwhile, Vancouver is still the most expensive city to rent with an average of $2,534 per month for a one-bedroom and $3,413 for a two-bedroom, according to Rentals.ca's data.
