Have you lost a loved one? Do you need a gentle, safe space to deal with your grief?
The New West Hospice Society is launching a new session of its Walk & Talk grief support walking group, starting Feb. 4.
Every Saturday morning for eight weeks, participants meet at the Quay to go for a walk together along the boardwalk, followed by a sit-down session involving a gentle discussion about the different stages of grieving. Sessions run from 10 a.m. to noon.
“People can participate or not, they can listen to the facilitator and just listen. They don't have to stay for the talk. They can just leave. It's very flexible and gentle. It's kind,” Rani MacInnes, the society’s volunteer program manger, told the Record in a previous interview. “It's a place where people can be with other like-minded people, because often, grieving can be isolating.”
Your bereavement doesn’t need to be recent for you to take part; as MacInnes pointed out, “There is no timeline for grief.”
