All that remains of a stabbing in downtown New Westminster early Sunday morning is blood on the sidewalk and police tape.
New Westminster Police Department officers are investigating the stabbing incident, which occurred at around 2 a.m. out front of the Paramount Gentlemen’s Club, an adult entertainment business on Columbia Street. One male was stabbed and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, say police.
Two suspects were located a short distance away, said police, and were both safely arrested following a short foot pursuit. The New Westminster Police Department Major Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation. The New Westminster Forensic Identification Section was called to process the scene.
“At this time, we believe this is an isolated incident,” stated Sergeant Sanjay Kumar. “There may be additional witnesses to this assault that have yet to speak to police, and we are encouraging those people to come forward.”
