The Royal City Record got a nod from a national community journalism organization recently, taking home a blue ribbon award in the General Excellence (circulation 12,500 to 24,999) category from the annual Canadian Community Newspaper Association award gala.
The association has about 800 member papers across the country.
In mid-April, The Record was also awarded a bronze award for overall excellence from the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper awards.
Past recognitions for the paper include a blue ribbon from the CCNA in 2011, 2008, 2006 and 2005, and a Ma Murray for overall excellence in 2005 and 2004.
