It appears someone has secured a generous yearly payment after playing the lottery in New Westminster.
The prize: $25,000 a year for life.
A Daily Grand ticket purchased in New West matched the five winning numbers from last Thursday's, Jan. 2, draw:
- 06, 21, 40, 45, 47
They did not, however, pick the Grand Number (05) and lost out on the top prize of $1,000 a day for life, according to PlayNow.com. No one across Canada succeeded in this feat, nor the $500,000 Extra prize.
It's not yet known, as of this publication, Jan. 5, where the ticket was purchased or if the winner has come forward.
The New Westminster ticket is also the first Daily Grand winner since Dec. 2, 2024, when someone in Québec won the twice-weekly national prize of $1,000 a day for life.
"All lottery prize winners have 52 weeks from the draw date printed on their ticket to come forward to claim their prize," the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has previously stated.
"The specific retail location where the winning lottery ticket was purchased, and the lottery winners' name(s) will be announced after the winner has come forward to claim their prize."
New West's latest thousandaire can either accept the $25,000 a year for life or request a lump sum of $500,000.
