A local woman is in intensive care after being struck by a vehicle downtown on Friday night.
According to the New Westminster Police Service, the woman was hit by a southbound vehicle just before 7: 30 p.m. as she was crossing at a marked crosswalk at Sixth Street and Queens Avenue.
The 19-year-old victim was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital where she is now being treated for "serious head injuries," according to New Westminster Sgt. Diana McDaniel.
The driver, a 74-year-old Coquitlam resident, remained at the scene, as did several witnesses.
