There's less than two weeks left for registered nonprofits, charities and service organizations in New Westminster to apply for extra cash from the city for programming in 2025.

Societies have until Oct. 28 to submit an application for the municipality's community grant initiative.

Up to $20,000 is available for successful submissions looking to host a project or public event some time after July 15 next year.

One-time small grants are also up for grabs with a maximum amount of $3,500. This funding can be used to purchase equipment, rent civic facilities, staff professional development and other necessary services.

"Community organizations are vital to the livability and vitality of New Westminster," the grants page of the city's website reads.

"Through the help of the Community Grants program, Community Partners can deliver essential, creative, and innovative programs, support, and services."

In February this year, New West council approved a new system that evaluates the overall grant program for more efficient and responsive recommendations so the money is distributed fairly.
