Alexis Hart (#10), seen here in the 2022 B.C. AAAA girls high school basketball final with Riverside Secondary, will officially suit up for Douglas College this fall.

The Douglas College Royals have added height and an accurate arm from around the arc to its women's basketball roster this fall.

And it's an official signing over a year in the making.

Coquitlam's Alexis Hart incurred a knee injury that sidelined her for most of the 2022-23 senior season, including during the Riverside Secondary's run to the B.C. AAAA girls high school championship.

Now, after a full recovery and spending her first year as a red-shirt for DC, she's looking to lead the New Westminster post-secondary school to back-to-back PACWEST conference titles.

"I loved the girls on the team and knew I could improve my game with such a strong group of women," said Hart in a news release.

The 5'10" winger put pen to paper in July, roughly 15 months after declaring her commitment to the Royals.

"We are excited to have another player with a high school provincial championship pedigree in Alexis, joining our team," said women's basketball head coach Steve Beauchamp.

"With her recovery from knee surgery now in the rear-view mirror, Alexis will have the opportunity to showcase her dynamic shooting and on-court intensity as a Royal."

Hart played her club basketball with VK Basketball, based in North Vancouver.

She also claimed a provincials silver medal with Riverside in 2022, compiling 42 points in four games.

The Royals are coming off a strong 2023-24 season that led to DC's fifth B.C. women's basketball championship and a seventh-place finish at nationals.

The green and white compete in the Canadian Collegiate Athletics Associaition (CCAA) — the second highest level of university sports in the country.
