Re: New West eyeing property tax hike in 8% range in 2024 (Dec. 15, 2023)
Like many municipalities, New West decides to reach for excessive tax increases rather than figure out how to manage efficiently.
We are woefully underserved when it comes to community centres yet we pay amongst the highest rate in the region.
And now part of the increase is to fund the new aquatic centre which doesn’t even get us to comparable standards.
We’re already paying more for things we should be getting but aren’t; pay more for less should not be a government mantra but that’s exactly what we are getting from people who aren’t competent to run a lemonade stand in a heat wave.
It seems their only strategy is anonymous social media attacks of critics.
