The second annual Black Women Business Exhibit is back in New Westminster this week — bringing with it a chance to shop, network and grow.
The event will feature more than 50 Black women-owned businesses at the Anvil Centre (777 Columbia St.) on Saturday, Sept. 23 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Exhibits will include fashion and clothing; real estate; health and wellness products; event planning; home and interior design; business consulting; child development and family services; catering, food retail and production; hair, cosmetics and skincare.
Besides getting to discover small businesses that sell African doughnuts (Dominique Delicacies), African-inspired dishes (Meals and Grills Food and Entertainment), Afro-fusion gluten-free baked products (Soulhearty), African textiles (African Vegan Art), among others, the event is also a chance to learn about starting a small business of your own.
Attendees can register for in-person workshops on how to craft a compelling grant application to secure funding, how to identify diverse avenues of business and access them, and find out the key to transforming their business ideas into structured, actionable plans with foundational strategies.
Organized by the Black Women Business Network Canada, the event, as per its description, is a "community experience."
"Whether you're a seasoned professional, an aspiring entrepreneur, or someone keen on supporting local businesses, there's something here for you."
Those that participate will also have a chance to win $250 in a raffle contest.
The event is free for all. Register through Eventbrite.
