Seniors who are 60 and older are invited to book a free exam at the clinic ,which runs until Jan. 26. The promotion includes an offer of three follow-up visits for $99, which would normally cost $220.

With cold and flu season in full swing, the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine states that it's a great time for seniors to learn more about how a naturopathic doctor can work with them to use a variety of natural therapies and non-invasive techniques to approach their health and healing.

Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic is located at #320-435 Columbia St. Appointments, which are available Monday to Saturday, can be made by calling 604-540-2873. For more information, visit www.binm.org.

LET'S TALK ABOUT SEX

While it can be embarrassing for parents to talk about sex with their kids, a workshop that's taking place this week seeks to make the process easier.

The latest Parents' Night Out session features a presentation about sex education by Saleema Noon.

The workshop takes place on Thursday, Jan. 24 from 6: 30 to 8 p.m. at Lord Tweedsmuir Elementary School's gym.

"This lighthearted workshop delivers straight and current facts," said a brochure about the event. "Leave well equipped with clear concepts and answers to the questions children of all ages ask - or don't ask. Work together to promote good sexual decisions for a lifetime."

To register for this talk, email communityschools@sd40. bc.ca - or just show up. Lord Tweedsmuir is located at 1714 Eighth Ave.

SOUP AND SUPPORT

Soup's on at the extreme weather shelter being offered in the Royal City.

The Lookout Emergency Aid Society is grateful for the support it's receiving from Leona Green.

"Leona at Greens and Beans gives us soup every night we are open," said Dave Brown, community services manager with Lookout. "We pick up a pot of soup from her. The soup is wonderful. She gives us a different soup every day."

This is the first year that the Lookout Emergency Aid Society has run the extreme weather shelter in New Westminster, a program that seeks to reduce the risk of illness, injury and death on nights of extreme weather. The society appreciates donations of food such as microwavable meals that it can serve to people accessing the temporary shelter.

Anyone interested in making a donation or volunteering with the extreme weather shelter can call Brown at 778-288-8887.
