Residents have started moving in to a prominent new development on New Westminster’s waterfront.
In early 2016, Bosa Properties began work on the RiverSky development at 1000 Quayside Dr., which is located next to River Market and Inn at the Quay. The project includes two residential towers containing 519 residences, townhouses facing 10th Street, at-grade retail and six levels of parking.
Wayne Vickers, vice president of development for BlueSky Properties, said the project is on track to be fully finished this summer. While the goal was to complete the project by the end of 2018, he said it was delayed by a “very active and tight construction market.”
“The west tower is completed, and home owner move-ins have commenced,” he said in a statement to the Record. “The company is still working on finishing up the interior of the east tower, the amenity pavilion on the sixth level podium, exterior landscaping at ground level and the McInnes elevator overpass connection.”
RiverSky will include a breezeway that provides pedestrian access to the waterfront, and stairway and elevator access to the McInnis Street overpass.
“There are a few points of access and egress – one point of access to the lower parkade is off of Quayside Drive and another access point to the above ground parkade is off the lane through the breezeway between the towers,” Vickers said of access in and out of the development. “There is also an additional egress off the upper parkade to McInnes overpass, which will be an exit-only.”
While construction of RiverSky, including pile driving, has also taken its toll on some roads around the site, Vickers said areas that have been affected by construction will be repaved and improved.
To date, no announcements have been made about commercial tenants that will be opening in RiverSky.
