Multiple arrests were made after a 911 call regarding firearms was placed to the New Westminster Police Department.

New West police arrested four people after a 911 call reported multiple males with suspected firearms on Alexander Street.

On April 9 at roughly 5:45 p.m., New Westminster Police Department officers and Metro Vancouver Transit Police attended the scene and discovered an altercation had taken place before the individuals involved took off.

Police say that approximately an hour later, officers arrested three people who matched the suspect descriptions, and a fourth was arrested later that evening.

Officers recovered a can of bear spray and charges related to assault with a weapon are being considered, an NWPD news release said.

“We’d like to thank the person who called 911,” NWPD spokesperson Sgt. Andrew Leaver added.

“If you ever see anything that causes you concern for the safety of others, we ask that you make the call. We’re here for you.”

Anyone with more information regarding the incident is asked to contact the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
