New Westminster police are investigating a fatal collision at a Quayside complex last night.
The New Westminster Police Department is in the early stages of the investigation into the motor vehicle incident that happened at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20 in a multi-family complex on K de K Court.
Witnesses called 911 to report the collision, and first responders rushed to the scene to find the driver of one vehicle unresponsive, an NWPD press release notes.
"All other drivers remained on scene, did not report any injuries and are not believed to be involved in the cause of the collision," the release says.
New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services and B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics provided aid to the unresponsive driver, but she was declared dead at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and the NWPD's major crime unit were on scene, and the major crime unit has taken over the investigation.
"Police are in the early stages of this investigation," said Sgt. Andrew Leaver, the department's media relations officer, in the release. "The major crime unit will be taking all contributing factors into account when determining the cause of the collision."
The investigation took several hours last night, and the NWPD is thanking residents of the building for their patience.
