New West residents still have time to weigh in on what movie should show on the big screen at the 10th anniversary bash for Westminster Pier Park.

The City of New Westminster is getting set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Westminster Pier Park on Friday, June 17

The celebration, taking place on June 17 from 5:30 to 11 p.m., is giving community members a chance to gather by the river with friends, family, and neighbours for a picnic on the lawn, crafts, activities, and treats from the concession.

The city is currently surveying community members about four possible movies to be shown at the celebration: Croods 2; Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle; Sing 2; or Spider-Man: No Way Home. The survey closes May 31.

Attendees are invited to enter giveaways as they wait for the outdoor movie to begin. They’ll also be able to learn about the history of Westminster Pier Park, listen to music and connect with other community members.

Starting June 2, you’ll find a list of all of the activities planned for the day at www.tinyurl.com/PierPark10.

The City of New Westminster purchased the 3.8-hectare brownfield site on the waterfront in March 2009 for $8 million.

On June 16, 2012, the city held a grand opening for the $25-million waterfront park, which went on to win several planning and environmental awards.
