New Westminster teen arrested in Burnaby robbery

A 16-year-old New Westminster teenager and a 15-year-old Burnaby teenager are each facing multiple charges after a Wednesday night robbery at Ron McLean Park in South Burnaby. At approximately 10 p.m.

A 16-year-old New Westminster teenager and a 15-year-old Burnaby teenager are each facing multiple charges after a Wednesday night robbery at Ron McLean Park in South Burnaby.

At approximately 10 p.m., the two teens approached and robbed a man and woman at knife point. The teens allegedly robbed the couple of their personal belongings, including cellphones, cash, jewelry and gift cards.

Burnaby police officers soon arrived on the scene, and with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services team, were able to arrest the two teenagers.

The 16-year-old New Westminster teen is facing two charges of armed robbery, one charge of carrying a prohibited weapon, one charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and one charge of disguising the face with intent to commit an offence.

The 15-year-old Burnaby teen is facing two charges of armed robbery and one charge of disguising the face with intent to commit an offence.

Because of their age, the identity of the two teens will not be released.
