More than 100 people showed up for a peaceful protest at New Westminster's Hyack Square Wednesday, Nov. 23, to support Gazans and to pressure the Canadian government to call for a ceasefire in Palestine.
Protesters were invited to send postcards to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office to call for a ceasefire and end arms trades.
The crowd alternated between chanting "Free Palestine" and call-backs to "shame" the federal government.
The event included speeches from activists and a march along Front Street.
Reports now say more than 12,700 people have been killed in Gaza, after 1,200 people were killed in Israel on Oct. 7.
