Rookie Oiler to hockey worlds

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby will be the youngest player on Canada's world championship national hockey team. The 19-year-old NHL Edmonton Oilers' rookie of the year hopeful is one of five B.C. players named to the national team.

The 19-year-old NHL Edmonton Oilers' rookie of the year hopeful is one of five B.C. players named to the national team.

Nugent-Hopkins is joined by Oilers linemate Jordan Eberle, who scored both goals, including the shootout-winner in Canada's 2-1 exhibition win over Switzerland on Sunday.

Canada opens against Slovakia on Friday. The 16-team tournament continues through to May 15, with the championship final slated for May 20.
