New West police are seeking dash-cam footage after a motorist allegedly shot at another vehicle several times after crossing the Pattullo Bridge.
On Wednesday, the New Westminster Police Department received a call from a motorist who told them someone had discharged a firearm at his vehicle multiple times. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
“The driver shared that after he crossed into New Westminster over the Pattullo Bridge he proceeded onto McBride Boulevard in the 400 block, at which time, a driver of a black, two-door Infiniti shouted at him before pointing a black handgun and shooting numerous times, resulting in a broken passenger side window,” said a NWPD news release.
New West police say the investigation has indicated the weapon used may have been a pellet-gun, but investigators are seeking to identify the suspect to make this determination. The suspect driver is described as an Asian male with short hair, a white T-shirt and a black jacket.
“Using a weapon against another driver in traffic is reaching the heights of irresponsible and reckless behaviour,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “You’re exposing other drivers and families to grave injury or worse. We’re now asking the public to help us in our investigation by passing along any relevant dash-cam footage.”
Police would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident or has dash-cam footage (from Oct. 25, between 12:15 and 12:45 p.m. in the Pattullo Bridge/McBride Boulevard area). If you have information on this case, call the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411 and ask to speak to the Watch Commander regarding File #23-18029.
