Update: SkyTrain service resumes at 22nd Street Station in New West

Extra bus services still in place for New West and Metro Vancouver commuters until situation is resolved.

SkyTrain service was suspended for roughly four hours at at 22nd Street Station in New Westminster today, Jan. 30, due to a medical emergency.

SkyTrains are stopping and boarding once again at 22nd Street Station in New Westminster, TransLink says.

The service was suspended for roughly four hours today, Jan. 30, due to an ongoing medical emergency at the local stop.

"The medical incident has been resolved," reads the latest statement from the regional transit authority. 

"Regular service is resuming on the Expo Line."

A bus bridge between New Westminster and Edmonds stations was in place for Metro Vancouver commuters while the service was temporarily halted.

SkyTrain commuters needing to get to the 22nd Street Station area of New Westminster will need to take a bus.

In its latest update, TransLink said the Expo Line is not stopping in either direction at the local station resulting from an ongoing medical emergency.

The SkyTrain was suspended shortly after 9 a.m.

Riders travelling westbound are being instructed to transfer to bus service at New Westminster Station, and those travelling eastbound at Edmonds Station.

"Extra bus service and staff are in place at affected stations to keep customers moving," said TransLink in a service notice.

Bay locations for transit riders to hop on a bus are as follows:

  • Edmonds Station
    • Bay 5 - Stop #52605
  • 22nd Street Station
    • Both Directions - Stop #58322
  • New Westminster Station
    • Bay 7 - Stop #61654

The Millennium and Canada lines are not impacted from the disruption and are operating as normal.
