One man has been arrested following a daytime bank robbery on Tuesday.
According to New Westminster Police Service acting Sgt. Bruce Carrie, the suspect entered a Scotiabank and committed the robbery around 3 p.m.
Staff at the bank alerted an off-duty Transit Police member, who called 911 and pursued the suspect.
The off-duty officer was then able to provide New Westminster police with a valuable description of the man and his direction of travel.
The information allowed New Westminster police to locate and arrest the suspect without incident.
Cash taken in the heist was recovered during a search of the suspect, Carrie said in a press release.
The man was scheduled to appear in New Westminster court Wednesday morning.
