IHIT is investigating a suspicious death of a woman in Queensborough.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says a suspicious death in New Westminster appears to be an isolated incident.

Around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the New Westminster Police Department was called to the 1400 block of Salter Street for a report of a sudden death.

“Upon police attendance, a 38-year-old female was located deceased under suspicious circumstances,” said a NWPD news release.

The New Westminster Police Department contacted IHIT, which is leading the investigation.

Staff Sgt. David Lee said IHIT is still investigating this incident as a suspicious death.

“IHIT is utilizing its own resources, and those from New West PD, and their Forensic Identification Services to determine what happened. I can’t provide any more information than that at this point,” he said in a statement to the Record. “This appears to be an isolated incident, so canvassing is at minimum for now.”

According to Lee, the investigation is in its early stages.
