There’s an eclectic array of happenings in New West this Thanksgiving weekend – including live entertainment, family events and pro wrestling.

Here are the Record’s top picks for the Oct. 11 to 13 weekend:

Friday, Oct. 11

365 Pro Wrestling

Expect the unexpected when 365 Pro Wrestling brings an evening of sports entertainment to New West.

  • When: Friday, Oct. 11. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and bell time is at 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: Sapperton Community Hall, 318 Keary St.

Beau Wheeler

Listen to indie singer Beau Wheeler, who has performed at the Juno Awards. A queer non-binary singer and songwriter, Wheeler’s music touches on topics including gender, surviving cancer, and love.

Saturday, Oct. 12

Homelessness Action Week walking tour

Join New Westminster Museum staff and the New Westminster Homelessness Coalition Society on a walk where they will discuss housing issues in the community from a historical perspective. This event is part of the kickoff to the annual Homelessness Action Week in New Westminster.

  • Where: Attendees will meet at Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia St.

Bottle drop

Support community groups by dropping off your recyclable beverage containers at the Royal City Rotary Club’s monthly community bottle drop, which raises money to support various community projects. Community members can drop off rinsed bottles, cans, and refundable containers.

Fleetwood Mac Tribute

Family Storytime with Crafts

Listen to local author and illustrator Hayley Lowe as she reads from her book, The Pie Report, at this Family Storytime with Crafts event. The reading will be followed by an art workshop with local artist Clarissa Banos.
