1 Get entertained at the Vivo Children's Choir concert, which features Aubrey Elementary Festival Choir (Burnaby), Langley Children's Choir, Vivo Children's Choir (New Westminster), the New Westminster Secondary School chamber choir and a solo by singer Allison Girvan of Nelson. The concert takes place on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. at Massey Theatre, 735 Eighth Ave. Admission is by donation.
2 Get out and see your tax dollars in action by attending the opening of the Queen's Park artificial turf field at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. The event will begin with a few words from selected guests and a presentation to the city of a cheque from the Royal City Youth Soccer Association, which contributed funds toward the field The celebration is at the east field, near the tennis courts and the arena.
3 Get some fresh veggies and other delectables at this month's Royal City Farmers' Market. The winter market features produce, fresh foods, prepared foods, handmade crafts, kids activities and entertainment. This month's market takes place on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at River Market, at 810 Quayside Dr. Free parking is offered on the B deck of the Front Street parkade. 4 Get your body moving and sign up for the City of New Westminster's Biggest Mover challenge, which provides participants with a passport to keep track of all their physical activities. The challenge runs from Feb. 5 to April 28. Sign up this weekend for the free program this weekend for a chance to get some motivation to get moving and for your chance to win prizes and get gifts.
5 Get out to a local pub and cheer during Super Bowl 46, which is taking place in Indianapolis but will be shown on televisions around the world. If you're not a football fan, you can still soak in the ambience and enjoy the commercials. Kickoff is scheduled for 3: 30 p.m.
