Who will fill the vacant seat on the New Westminster board of education?
Polls will close at 8 p.m. in the Feb. 3 school board byelection in New West. Four candidates are vying for the seat: Jalen Bachra (Community First); Kathleen Carlsen (New West Progressives); Alejandro Diaz; and Shawn Sorensen.
Election officials tell the Record results from some of the nine polls should be known soon after 8 p.Am. – including results from two advance voting days, a special voting opportunity at Royal Columbian Hospital and mail-in ballots, the results from today’s polls in the city will take a bit longer to tally. USB sticks containing the results of the five polling stations in the city have to be driven to city hall, where they will be tallied.
