Editor: I’ve been enjoying the respectful discussions and debates that all of the candidates have been having at the many events across New Westminster. I’ve had a good opportunity to hear what they all have to say and was feeling some New West pride when I saw Justin McElroy from CBC tweet about how refreshing it was to come to a New West mayoral debate.
It made it that much more dismaying to open up The Record today and be confronted with a cheap, dirty, attack ad. To see the New West Progressives drag this great campaign into the mud is shameful.
I guess when you have nothing good left to say about yourselves, you can only sling mud at others.
I hope this is the beginning and the end because no one in New West wants this kind of negativity. If they have any credibility, their next full page ad should be an apology to the entire community.
