While I understand the desire for more festivals and events, as a festival organizer, I am also aware of the hours and months it takes to organize a successful event, not to mention the expense. Finding funding is extremely difficult in the current economy.
All that aside, the biggest issue facing festivals is the lack of volunteers. Most people organizing these events are volunteering their time over several months, but it is really difficult to find people willing to come out during the event to help run it.
For those who want to have more events in the community, I suggest you consider getting involved. It’s a great way to meet people and socialize, and you are contributing to the community at the same time.
