New West residents have a chance to choose which movie will be shown on a big screen under the stars in Westminster Pier Park in September.
The City of New Westminster is giving folks a chance to vote for their favourite of four flicks, with the movie getting the most votes being shown for free on Friday, Sept. 8 at 8:30 p.m. at Pier Park. The four movies in contention are Black Panther, Moana, The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Wayne’s World.
Voting is now underway and goes until Tuesday, Aug. 22. The winner will be announced on Friday, Aug. 25.
“Grab a blanket, snacks and beverages and get ready to enjoy a movie under the stars,” said a notice from the city. “Arrive early to get a spot on the festival lawn and enjoy some new west film trivia and family-friendly activities. At dusk, a movie selected by the community will project on a large screen for you to enjoy.”
The movie night is among a series of activations that are taking place at Westminster Pier Park this summer. Other events include: Storytime Fun with Family Place on Mondays, Mornings by the River on Tuesdays, Music by the River on Wednesday nights and Circus Sundays.
