Missing the movies?
Here’s your chance to enjoy a film on the silver screen – at a safe social distance.
Key West Ford is teaming up with Galactic Entertainment, Starlight Casino and 24-7 Security to present a New Westminster pop-up drive in movie theatre this weekend.
On Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, the parking lot at Starlight Casino in Queensborough will be turned into a drive-in movie theatre.
A massive concert-style LED wall will be used to show a series of movies on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday will kick off with Shrek at 12:30 p.m., followed by Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl at 3 p.m. and Casino Royale at 6:30 p.m. On Sunday, audiences can enjoy Madagascar at 1 p.m., with Despicable Me at 3:15 p.m. and The Hunger Games at 5:30 p.m.
Capacity is limited to 50 vehicles, maximum, per movie. Everyone must have a confirmation to attend, and tickets will not be available at the door.
To ensure COVID-19 restrictions are respected, moviegoers must stay in their vehicles at all times (unless using the portable restrooms that will be on site) and everyone must bring their own snacks and drinks, as there will be no concession stand.
It’s open to people in enclosed vehicles only; no cyclists or walk-ins will be allowed.
Tickets are free but must be booked ahead and will be handed out using a lottery system. Your ticket gets you access to one movie online, then the site will be cleared to make way for the next screening.
To be entered into the lottery for a free ticket, check out the event listing on Facebook (search for Key West Ford presents: A pop-up drive in movie theatre series).
Starlight Casino is at 350 Gifford St.
Winners will be selected by Thursday, June 4 at 6 p.m.
