When Alessia Preovolos was crowned May Queen at New Westminster's May Day ceremonies on Saturday, she became the 152nd person to wear the crown.
In honour of May Day, we took a delve into the New Westminster Archives online to find photos of May Queens of the city's past.
The archives offers up a wealth of photographs of past celebrations, and we couldn't hope to bring you all of them here. But we curated this gallery of New West May Queens through the decades to offer a small glimpse of the many girls and young women of New Westminster who have worn the crown since 1870.
