A crane delivery could create a bit of noise around a downtown construction site.
Council has approved an exemption to the city’s construction noise bylaw that permits Bosa Development to deliver and offload crane sections to the Pier West construction site. The noise exemption relates to construction activity that will take place on two Saturdays – June 17 and 24, between 7 and 9 a.m.
“The noise impact is anticipated to be minimal,” said a report to council. “There will be some use of hand tools and noise from beeping vehicles reversing to stage then off-lad the equipment. Noise mitigation measures will be employed.”
Without an exemption, construction noise is permitted to take place on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Pier West, being built at 660 Quayside Dr., will include 43- and 53-storey highrises. The project also features a three-storey commercial building that includes childcare and retail spaces, about two acres of park and open space, an extension to Westminster Pier Park, and a public plaza and esplanade space.
